Save Power At Home
It is no secret that the world is staring down the barrel at a severe energy crisis which all of us are affected by. We all learned about renewable and non renewable energy sources growing up, but until recently we never took to much notice of the extreme consumption of non renewable energy sources. It is important that we take the steps we can to do our bit – if you are wondering if it is even possible to save power at home, and whether you personally can make a difference the answer is very simple: yes you can.
5 Tips to Help You Save Power At Home
Air Conditioners: To help save power with your air conditioner the idea is to not set your temperatures too high or too low (depending on the season). You would be surprised how much power you can save at home setting your air conditioner at a reasonable temperature.
Lights Bulbs: With light bulbs the best way to save power is to start using compact fluorescent bulbs – generally speaking, most people think that compact fluorescent bulbs are the more expensive option, in the short term they would be correct, but it is proven that compact fluorescent bulbs are far more cost effective in the long term buy the amount of power they will save you.
Refrigerator: With your refrigerator little things can make a big difference, like letting your food cool to room temperature before you put it into the refrigerator. Another small but effective way is to take out frozen food well before you are going to start preparing your meal as this will save power when you are heating it
Home Computer: Saving power at home with your family computer is simple, instead of letting your computer go into hibernation when you are not using it, make sure you switch it off and shut it down completely instead. You can not only use this at home but also in the workplace, result: saving loads more power!
Washing Machine: Again it is very logical and simple to save power at home with your washing machine. Most people would be guilty of doing their washing with only half loads every now and then, if you are serious about trying to save power at home it is important that you minimize the number of washes by washing only full loads every time.
As you can see above, there are many ways you can start to save power at home; it isn’t rocket science rather common sense, it is a combination of small things that are going to make a big difference!
